Iga Świątek po zwycięstwie nad Caroline Garcią w Indian Wells ponownie pokonała Francuzkę w Miami. Tym razem jednak mecz był dla Świątek trudniejszy, a tenisistka przyznała, że potrzebowała zastrzyku energii, zanim zapewniła sobie zwycięstwo. Polka musiała obronić piłkę setową w drugiej partii, zanim awansowała do 1/16 finału.

Poland’s Swiatek saved a set point in the second, on her way to a 6-2 7-5 victory.
Swiatek admitted afterwards that she needed a boost of energy as the match headed towards its climax.
“My energy level got down really fast,” she said. “So I tried to wake myself up, keep the intensity from the first set, follow through and go for it.”
