Caitlin Clark shatters six-figure record held by Serena Williams as WNBA star dubbed ‘needle mover’
Caitlin Clark is no stranger to breaking records.
The WNBA star had a historic debut season with the Indiana Fever in 2024, en-route to being named the league’s Rookie of the Year.
Her impact has also been felt off the court, and Clark has been credited for the popularity boom of women’s basketball.
And now, despite being deep in the WNBA offseason, she is setting new records in the world of sports memorabilia.
On Saturday night (March 29), a one-of-a-kind Caitlin Clark autograph rookie card sold in a Goldin auction for a massive $366,000.
That shattered the previous record of $266,400, which was paid for a 2003 NetPro Serena Williams Rookie Patch Autograph in May 2022.
Williams’ card featured a piece of one of her match-worn tennis outfits.
Clark’s though, smashed that previous high by $100,000.
Her 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl Prizm card is numbered 1-of-1 and received a perfect ten grade with a ten autograph grade from Professional Sports Authenticator, a US-based grading company.
Panini’s Prizm set is the exclusive WNBA trading card license holder’s most popular, so it’s little surprise that Clark’s autograph rookie card in that set has gone on to become her most valuable.
